The Newcastle Business District is one of 28 Business Improvement Areas across New Brunswick.

A Business Improvement Area (B.I.A.) is an association of non-residential property owners and tenants within a defined geographical area, commonly known as the central business district” or “downtown”, who work together to create prosperous, competitive, and safe business areas that attract people to shop, live, work, visit, and invest. This is done through startegic planning, marketing campaigns, streetscape improvement programs, and many other related events.

By establishing the B.I.A., the area’s business community is working together to make their area more competitive and attractive, to organize events that will bring visitors to their downtown, and to bring the general level of services and infrastructure provided by the municipality to a higher standard. By doing this, B.I.A.’s are more attractive, comfortable, clean, and safe.
